When you have a minute, read this important and insightful article by Laura Smith. I think she is absolutely right in her assessment of this issue. Should students be held to standards regarding how they use the Internet? Certainly. Should teachers be cautious and ever-alert? Yes, of course. But once safeguards are in place, students need to use the available online tools under the guidance of educators who can teach them to be responsible online citizens.

I got in touch with IT today to see about gaining an authorized override permission so that I can get into the site here at school and really get the whole experience before I take it to the next level. I’m keeping my fingers crossed.
